Tirupati Villa Management

Government rice stocks reached record levels, supporting domestic supply and export potential.India's rice stocks have reached an all-time high of 68.43 million metric tonnes as of 1 June 2026, marking a 15% increase compared to the previous year. This is one of the highest rice reserve levels ever recorded in the country and is far above the Government of India's buffer stock requirement of 13.5 million tonnes.

The record stock level has been achieved due to:

  • Record rice production during the 2025-26 crop year.
  • Strong procurement by government agencies such as the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
  • Favorable monsoon conditions in the previous season.
  • Increased cultivation area by farmers.
